Get a slip

A public weighbridge takes about 10 minutes and costs about $20.

Load it as if you are leaving tomorrow
Food, clothes, tools, gas, and water in the tanks. An empty van does not tell you much.

Weigh the vehicle on its own first
Unhooked. That is GVM before the ball weight goes on.

Hook up and weigh again
Van on. The extra weight on the back of the vehicle is roughly the ball weight.

Keep the slip
Photograph the slip.
