Background
On The Move Caravans was founded in 2001 by Lenny Mifsud in Campbellfield, Melbourne. Lenny, who started out as an auto electrician, built his first caravan as a hobby. He had an infectious can-do attitude and a headful of ideas that others might have deemed crazy. The business has come a long way since those early days, with the brand earning recognition for its innovative approach to caravan design.
The company achieved three consecutive wins at Caravan World’s Best Aussie Vans awards from 2014 to 2016. CEO Robin Harris has been a prominent figure in the company’s more recent operations.
Ownership & Structure
On The Move Caravans was acquired by Caravan HQ. This transition from founder-led boutique builder to a larger distribution model represents a significant shift in the company’s structure.
Manufacturing
On The Move Caravans has been building caravans in Campbellfield, Victoria since 2001. The company is known for its innovative design features and reliable off-road capability. Their approach has always been about pushing boundaries in caravan design rather than volume production.
Market Position
On The Move sits in the mid-to-premium off-road caravan segment. The brand has strong name recognition thanks to its award history and innovative designs. Models include the Grenade, Traxx, and Adventure series. The acquisition by Caravan HQ aims to bring the brand to a wider audience through a more structured dealer network while maintaining the qualities that made the brand successful.
