Gumnut Campers

Background

Gumnut Campers was established in 2020 and builds pod and teardrop campers. Based in Leopold, Victoria (near Geelong), the company designs and locally manufactures modern teardrop and pod camper trailers. The campers are built to be easy to tow and quick to set up, with cabinetry, fixtures and a chassis made for Australian roads.

The Gumnut range includes several distinct models: the Adventure (the lightest, zero-setup, Aussie-made camper designed for dirt and gravel roads), the Echidna (a pod camper with queen bed comfort cabin, slide-out BBQ, hot water service, internal fridge, and external shower), and a Touring model.

Ownership & Structure

Gumnut Campers operates from Leopold, VIC, in the Geelong region. The company also has a retail presence through Surfcoast RV Geelong. Specific ownership details are not publicly documented.

Manufacturing

All Gumnut campers are locally made in Victoria, Australia. The company builds the cabinetry, fixtures and chassis in Victoria. Their manufacturing approach focuses on creating lightweight, towable units that are built to withstand Australian conditions.

Market Position

Gumnut Campers occupies the growing teardrop/pod camper niche in the Australian market. Their products appeal to buyers who want a step up from tent camping but do not need or want a full caravan. The zero-setup aspect of some models is a key selling point for convenience-focused campers. The pod/teardrop segment is growing as more Australians seek lightweight, easy-to-tow camping solutions.
