Active Campers

Background

Active Campers is a small Australian manufacturer specialising in slide-on campers designed for ute-based touring. Based in Woolgoolga, NSW, the company produces the Vantage range of slide-on campers that fit most 2WD and 4WD utes with flat trays. The standout feature is the Vantage 2.4, which includes a full-sized ensuite with toilet and shower, a rare offering in the slide-on camper category.

The company emphasises that they have listened to customer feedback to continuously improve designs and materials, resulting in competitive products built for Australian conditions.

Ownership & Structure

Small, independently operated manufacturer based at 1 Hawke Drive, Woolgoolga, NSW 2456. Limited dealer presence; primarily sells direct. Specific ownership details are not widely published.

Manufacturing

Manufactured locally in Woolgoolga, NSW. The range consists of two models: the Vantage 2.1 and Vantage 2.4. Both feature 12-volt actuators for electric roof opening, removable jack-off legs for easy ute removal, and construction tested on rough 4x4 tracks in the Australian outback and on beaches. Setup involves opening the door, pulling down steps, and pressing a button to raise the roof.

Market Position

Niche slide-on camper segment, targeting couples (both young professionals and empty nesters) who want flexibility with a ute-based touring setup. The ensuite-equipped Vantage 2.4 is a key differentiator in a segment where most slide-ons lack bathroom facilities.
