Waygo

Background

Waygo is a brand-new entrant to the Australian caravan market, launched in early 2025. The brand builds compact fold-out caravans (and tiny homes) that unfold into significantly more spacious interiors than their towing dimensions suggest. The 17ft single-axle model delivers similar interior space to a 24ft 6in conventional caravan, while the 19ft tandem-axle variant matches a 26ft 6in caravan’s living space.

Waygo is led by CEO Michael Ritzau of Melbourne-based Waygo Lifestyle Solutions. The caravans are manufactured by Compaks RV (Rongcheng Compaks New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd.), a large Chinese hybrid caravan and motorhome manufacturer registered in 2014 with 1,200 employees and a factory covering 360,000 square metres capable of producing over 20,000 trailer caravans per year.

Australian-owned brand (Waygo Lifestyle Solutions) with Chinese manufacturing. Michael Ritzau is the CEO. The caravans are built by Compaks RV in China and imported. Waygo maintains a showroom in Kilsyth, Melbourne, along with a dealer in Adelaide.

Manufacturing

Manufactured in China by Compaks RV, not in Australia. The fold-out mechanism is the key engineering feature — large sections on each side fold out when parked to create a significantly expanded interior. Standard specifications include 430Ah lithium battery with 1550W rooftop solar, upgradeable to 1260Ah and 3000W. The construction is designed for off-grid capability.

Market Position

Premium crossover/expandable caravan segment. Pricing starts at approximately $117,000 for the 17ft single-axle and $125,000 for the 19ft tandem-axle. Waygo occupies a unique niche — there are few direct competitors offering this fold-out expandable format in Australia. The closest comparisons might be Bolwell RV’s expandable models or imported expandable caravans.
