Traveller Caravans

Background

Traveller Caravans was founded by George Andonovski in 1984 in Melbourne. For close to 30 years it operated as a family-run business building touring and dirt-road caravans. The brand became well known in the Victorian market for reliable, no-frills touring vans.

The IP assets — including the business name, domain, logo, and 14 trademarks — were sold. JB Caravans, one of Australia’s largest RV manufacturers, acquired the brand and relaunched it. A new range of Traveller-badged vans (including the Intrigue and Unique models) is now built at JB’s Melbourne factory.

Ownership & Structure

Originally family-owned by George Andonovski. Now owned by the JB Group, which also operates JB Caravans and acquired New Age Caravans. The Traveller brand name is maintained but the product, factory, and team are entirely JB’s operation. The Facebook owners group specifically notes it is for “Pre Sept 2023 Builds,” reflecting the ownership transition.

Manufacturing

Originally manufactured in Melbourne by the Andonovski family operation. Now built at JB Caravans’ Melbourne factory in Campbellfield, Victoria. JB is a large-scale manufacturer with modern production facilities. The new Traveller models carry similar design language and model names to the originals but are fundamentally JB-engineered products.

Market Position

Budget-to-mid-range touring caravans. Traveller has historically competed with brands like Jayco, Regent, and Coromal in the affordable touring space. Under JB ownership, the brand benefits from greater manufacturing scale and dealer network coverage, though it remains positioned as a value offering.
