Background

Platinum RV is a caravan brand engineered and manufactured by Urban Caravans. The brand was created to offer a lighter weight and more affordable alternative to Urban’s top-spec off-road caravans, while maintaining the innovative composite frame construction that sets Urban apart. Platinum RV represents Urban Group’s strategy to reach a broader market segment.

The Platinum range uses Urban’s proprietary Polytech structure — a hybrid sandwich panel construction with 900-density poly board and foam core, creating composite frames that provide structural strength above and beyond industry standards while eliminating the rot that plagues traditional timber-framed caravans.

Ownership & Structure

Platinum RV is a brand within the Urban Caravans group. Urban Caravans (urbancaravans.com.au) is the parent company that designs and engineers both the premium Urban range and the more accessible Platinum RV range. Note: Platinum RV (platinumrv.com.au) is a separate entity from Platinum Campers (platinumcampers.com.au), which is a different company entirely.

Manufacturing

Platinum RV caravans are manufactured using Urban Caravans’ composite frame technology. The 29mm thick side walls feature “internal PVC blocking” that allows internal furniture to be securely fixed using metal screws into the composite structure. The hybrid sandwich panel construction utilises fibreglass sandwich panel with a mix of foam core and 900-density poly board. The Polytech-framed vans come with a lifetime guarantee against rot.

Standard equipment includes Terraglide coil suspension, General Grabber all-terrain tyres, and the latest Victron 24V power system, which represents a strong level of standard specification.
