About My Dream RV
Background
My Dream RV was founded when Matthew John, a multinational industrialist, and Don Rafiq, an engineer with nearly 50 years of experience building caravans in Melbourne, met at their children’s soccer games and decided to start a new caravan company. John used his wide network of supply chain partners to set up a dedicated new factory, while Rafiq assembled a team of experienced caravan builders. Production commenced in mid-2022.
The company has assembled a diverse team with experience from over 14 countries and from niche industries including precious metals mining. They were named Most Innovative Luxury RV Manufacturer 2024 in Victoria by APAC Insider and are notable for being the only company to build fully electric caravans.
Ownership & Structure
My Dream RV is privately owned by co-founders Matthew John and Don Rafiq. The company distributes exclusively through a partnership with Caravan HQ across a growing dealer network.
Manufacturing
The My Dream RV factory is located in Epping, Victoria, currently producing around five vans per week with a team of 13 workers. The company features distinctive design elements including a Euro-inspired curved front design. The Dream Catcher range was the first caravan to roll off their factory floor, as a full off-road range.
Market Position
My Dream RV sits in the mid-to-upper range of the Australian caravan market. The Dream Catcher range starts at $89,990 for the 17ft 6in couples van and tops out at $107,990 for the 23ft club lounge model. They compete on innovation and design differentiation, targeting buyers who want something visually distinctive with modern features. Their fully electric caravan capability positions them as forward-looking in the market.
