About Jacksons Carry Me Camper

Background

Jacksons Carry Me Camper was established in 2014 when directors Wayne and Marg Jackson purchased the rights to the camper products of Candy Canvas. They immediately set about transitioning from canvas to all-aluminium construction, focusing on continuous product development and improvement. The result is a line of slide-on campers designed to fit onto a ute tray, turning a dual-cab 4WD into a fully self-contained touring vehicle without the need for a trailer.

The company’s latest and most popular design is a two-stage hardtop slide-on camper that is unlike anything else on the market. The unique roof design provides unparalleled space and ventilation in the sleeping area, with a full-size 140mm-thick innerspring mattress in a north/south orientation. Over 300 of these units are now in the field, backed by more than eight years of continuous refinement.

Ownership & Structure

Jacksons Carry Me Camper is privately owned by Wayne and Marg Jackson. The company operates under the Jacksons Australia banner. There are no parent companies or corporate investors. The company sells direct and is based in Australia.

Manufacturing

The campers are constructed from fully welded aluminium, making them both dust-proof and water-proof. The all-aluminium construction replaced the original canvas-based designs inherited from Candy Canvas. The build emphasises durability for remote travel, with onboard water systems, power management, and 320-watt fixed solar roof panels as standard. The design features an easy-lift tailgate and assisted hard roof for the one-minute setup time.

Market Position

Jacksons Carry Me Camper occupies a niche in the slide-on camper market, which is a small but dedicated segment of the Australian RV industry. Pricing starts at $38,830 for the base model and goes up to $42,780 for the fully equipped version. The target buyer is a ute owner who wants the simplicity and manoeuvrability of their 4WD without towing a trailer, but still wants a comfortable, self-contained camping setup.
