About Emu RV
Background
Emu RV is a Sydney-based motorhome specialist founded by Marty Doherty, a fully qualified automotive mechanic with extensive knowledge of the recreational vehicle industry. The company has exclusive rights to sell motorhomes manufactured by Nova Caravans, one of Australia’s well-regarded caravan builders. Although Nova produces the motorhomes, they are sold under the Emu RV name, with Marty personally handling much of the specification work and design input.
Emu RV motorhomes are based on Fiat Ducato van conversions and are well-equipped for off-grid travel, featuring 155-litre fresh water tanks, 175-litre 240v/12v compressor fridge/freezers, internal shower/toilet, gas heating, 120-watt solar, and air-conditioning. The company offers models including the E2S, E4S, and ZX4S XLWB.
Ownership & Structure
Emu RV is owned by Marty Doherty and operates from Cranebrook in western Sydney (NSW). The business model is a partnership with Nova Caravans, where Nova manufactures the motorhomes and Emu RV handles sales, specifications, and customer relationships. Marty has a long-standing personal relationship with the Nova family, having sold and ordered many custom vans before establishing his own business approximately 6 years ago (circa 2018-2019).
Manufacturing
The motorhomes are manufactured by Nova Caravans at their production facility. Nova is a respected Australian manufacturer known for quality caravan construction. Every Emu RV motorhome benefits from Nova’s established manufacturing processes and quality standards, applied to Fiat Ducato-based van conversions.
Market Position
Emu RV sits in the premium motorhome/campervan segment. Their unique selling proposition is the combination of Nova’s established build quality with Marty’s hands-on specification expertise and customer-focused approach. The brand has a relatively small production volume, which contributes to a more personalised buying experience.
